We've been out and about quite allot this term, which is always the plan in summer.  The Beavers and some parents had a pleasant walk round Spring Wood Picnic site, finished off with a great BBQ and drinks which Naughty Beaver prepared. Hyndburn District Beavers spent the day at South Lakes Wild Animal Park on Saturday 10th July. The highlight of June was the "Marvel"ous Superhero group camp at Waddow.  All sections came along and participated in lots of group activities over the weekend.  Assault courses .... water fights .... and of course "Naughty Beaver" got upto his usual tricks on the water slide  ....

This week, we celebrated the Chinese New Year (The year of the Tiger). In true Chinese style, we celebrated with our own version of a mini banquet of Chinese style food for the beavers to taste, followed by the frustrating, but entertaining game of chasing the malterser round the plate with chops sticks.

This year, we had a District Christmas Party held at Rossendale Ski Slopes. With over 80 beaver scouts in one place - in the snow, it was bound to be entertaining. On Saturday 28th November 2009, the Beavers and Cubs sections joined together with some plucky parents alongide the PROSPECTS Foundation, Hyndburn's community owned environmental charity to have a morning tree planting. As part of our Creative Challenge Badge and Global Challenge Badge, we've been learning about the Country Code and how we should behave in the countryside. We have been working towards our Air Activities badge this term. We had a really great night making different designs of aeroplanes and then having challenges to see which design could fly the furthest. We are looking forward to visiting Manchester Airport Viewing Park early next year to complete our badge and hopefully get the opportunity to get on board an aircraft and see Concorde close up.

Last week we where fortunate enough to be able to visit the 107 The Bee Radio Station for a tour.The Station covers Blackburn with Darwen, Hyndburn & The Ribble Valley and is located in Darwen. We recently had a really fun night being creative. This week, we really had a treat instore for the Beavers! John, who owns a Mobile Zoo, very kindly offered to come over to us and show us a small selection of his fantastic rescue animals. The East Lancashire celebrations where hosted at Bowley Scout Camp, with over 1300 campers and 500 Beaver Scout day visitors. The Akeema Shield took place at Bowley Scout Camp on Saturday the 28th April 2007. This is an annual "mini-olympics" style competition for the Beaver Scouts, with teams participating at District level. We’ve come to the end of another term and the beaver scouts have worked really hard and achieved four new “activity” badges. These have been undertaken in stages over a period of weeks both on and off base and include the following: Emergency Aid 1, Health Eating, Health and Fitness and Faith. So, after all this hard work, it was time for the beaver scouts and leaders to let their hair down.

The Hyndburn district football competition was held on Sunday 18th February 2007 in the Sports Barn at Bowley. Four teams entered including, All Saints Dunkenhalgh "A" and "B" teams, St Paul's Barnfield and 1st Baxenden.We all had a really fun afternoon, with great sportsmanship shown by all the teams.
