Hyndburn District Sleepover

Visit to Swordfish Cove
The annual Hyndburn District Sleepover took place at Ashworth Valley Scout camp over the weekend of the 12th-14th June 2009.

1st Baxenden took part along with many other groups from the district to experience what was truly a unique sleepover. The weekend had a distinct "Pirate" theme with games, activites and food all being pirate related.

A chest of treasure was up for grabs and the beavers followed a series of clues on the treasure map to find where it had been hidden.

The highlight of the camp was the visit to the Swordfish Cove to rescue the "beaver scout" that had been taken by the pirates during the morning's treasure hunt. On arrival at the cove the beavers where greeted by pirates (Hyndburn Explorer Scouts) branding swords and many, many water pistels, water guns, bottles and buckets. A feirce water fight took place and I'm pleased to report that the pirates retreated after being bombarded by wet sponges and buckets of water!

A big, big thank you to the Hyndburn District Explorer Scouts and their leaders for putting on such a fantastic weekend and really making the camp an awesome advernture for the kids. Thank you too, to Tracy and her district team for hosting yet another really successful sleepover.
